Best Photonics Companies in Germany
The 128 best Photonics companies in Germany in 2026, ranked by funding and momentum. Funding, investors, founders, valuation, tech stack and live signals. Top: Black Semiconductor.
Germany's Photonics sector is serious money, and this directory ranks 128 tracked companies by disclosed equity funding and recent momentum. Total disclosed funding across the cohort sits at $729M, with Black Semiconductor alone accounting for $280M of that, and Q.ANT pulling another $83M. Those two figures tell you something: capital in German photonics concentrates fast at the hardware layer, not in software wrappers.
The global backdrop is big. The photonics market was valued at roughly $911.5B in 2023 and is forecast to reach around $1,600B by 2033, implying a 6.11% CAGR, with biophotonics and defense spending among the harder demand drivers. Silicon photonics fabrication is the theme I keep seeing surface in coverage right now, and consolidation is quietly picking up pace too, as Exosens' recent move to acquire Emberion for SWIR imaging capability signals. So where does Germany fit? With active backers like HTGF, EIC Fund, and Bayern Kapital anchoring early rounds across 128 companies, it's a market with real depth beneath those headline numbers.
