healthtech industry,
in focus.

Algarve has officially made a financial contribution to MediQuo telemedicine platform. The initial investment is R$ 8.4 million, and can reach R$ 12.6 million, transforming a commercial partnership into a minority corporate stake, through the Algarve Venture Builder (CVB).

Avançsa is reinforced in the capital of Neos Surgery, a company specialized in the development and manufacture of medical devices for neurosurgery, spinal and cardiothoracic surgery. The industrial financing of the Generalitat has invested one million euros in its participation through an increase in capital. Specifically, Avançsa, which so far controlled almost 7% of the company, has converted a pre-granted half-million euro equity loan into equity, while it has contributed an additional 500,000 euros in the form of capital.

Robopedics, the company focused on robotic solutions for mobility, has closed a funding round of one million euros to launch its new robotic device Awake. The resources come from the Centre for Technological Development and Innovation (CDTI), through the Innvierte programme, Mondragón's venture capital fund and from individual contributions made through the Capital Cell participatory funding platform.

The emerging company The Smart Lollipop has opened an investment round of 2.5 million euros to market an intelligent caramel that allows to diagnose diseases through saliva and that has already been tested at the Hospital San Joan de Déu de Esplugues de Llobregat (Barcelona).

Aortyx, a medical company based in Barcelona, closes a round of funding series A worth 13.8 million euros.

INBRAIN Neuroelectronics, a clinical‑stage neurotechnology company developing graphene‑powered brain‑computer interfaces (BCIs), has received a €4 million grant from the Spanish Ministry of Industry and Tourism through the PERTE Chip initiative.

DeepUll, one of the most promising biomedical companies in the Spanish ecosystem, has just closed a €50 million Series C funding round.

The job cuts affect locations in Switzerland, Romania, Germany and the USA, as the company announced on Wednesday. A maximum of 50 jobs are to be reduced in April and May by redundancies, the rest by natural departures and retirements. There are also 12 redundancies at the headquarters in Wetzikon. Learning people are excluded from the process.
